Lexi Leaves The Big 12 A Little Something to Remember Her By
In 2023, Alexis Missimo became the only player in Big 12 history to lead the conference in every major individual offensive category in a season, including all games in and out of conference. Here’s the breakdown:
- She shot the soccer ball 126 times in 24 games, with 71 of them on goal. Emma Hawkins of OU, runner-up in both categories, had 79 and 41 in 20 games.
- Lexi scored 26 goals. Good friend and teammate Trinity Byars finished second with 18. Yeah, they’re fun to watch. Oh, and Lexi also led the conference in game-winning goals with nine.
- Lex assisted on 20 of her teammates’ tallies. MAC Hermann Trophy finalist Brecken Mozingo of BYU finished second with 15, a total she accumulated over 26 games. We’ll also note that four of the top ten played their club soccer at Solar – Missimo, Byars, Texas Tech’s Macy Blackburn, and Tyler Isgrig of Baylor.
- What about points? Well, if you lead in goals and assists, you kind of have to lead in points, too. That’s how that works.
The above stats applied across all games played. However, Lexi also led all the same categories except assists when one looks at only conference regular-season games. In the Big 12 Tournament, she recorded four goals and nine points on nine shots on goal, all tourney highs. Big 12 coaches might not be terribly disappointed to see Lexi move with the Longhorns to the Southeastern Conference in 2024.
