Victory+ Debuts Texas Longhorns Women’s Soccer Docuseries
Raising Her Game, a new three-part docuseries on the 2023 University of Texas at Austin women’s soccer team, is now streaming on Victory+™. The docuseries tells the fascinating stories of the Lady Longhorns while exploring the concurrent rise of U.S. soccer and women’s sports, framed through the players’ own experiences.
Raising Her Game is the first women’s sports programming to debut on Victory+ since its launch in September.
“We’re very excited to add Raising Her Game to Victory+ for fans to enjoy,” said Jason Walsh, Chief Operating Officer, Sports of Victory+. “This kind of docuseries fits in well with the variety of on-demand sports programming that we want to offer.”
The narrative of Raising Her Game focuses on the high-level competitive drive that propels Longhorn players and coach Ange Kelly to win games and conference titles, while taking a dive into the history of how soccer and women’s sports provide them opportunities to play the game they love. The docuseries explores the 20th-century disdain for both female athletes and soccer, and how the Title IX lawsuit that led to the establishment of the UT program had a ripple effect on the entire sport worldwide. Fans will see the world through the eyes of players like All-American Lexi Missimo, as she and her teammates learn and grow through experiences and adversity. Raising Her Game also dives into the student-athletes’ captivating personalities, senses of humor, and shared love of their sport.
“This series communicates how sports helps, and always has helped, young women learn to overcome adversity on the field and in life,” said Kelly. “I’m thrilled that our program was involved in its production.”
The documentary was produced by Mint Farm Films with support from Longhorn Studios. Rush Olson wrote and directed the series with Dave French acting as head of production. In keeping with its comprehensive content approach, Mint Farm produced short-form videos using clips not seen in the main piece to enable deeper dives by the audience. This extra content can also be seen on Victory+.
“All of us at Mint Farm Films are excited to share the perspectives of these talented student-athletes,” Olson said. “We’re thrilled that we could partner with Victory+ to stream these fascinating stories for sports fans in Texas and nationwide.”
Fans can download Victory+ for free on any computer, smartphone or tablet, as well as most smart TVs in the app store.
